Fast Rescue Boat (FRB) operators uphold an important role in saving mariners, marshaling life rafts, towing vessels in distress, and conducting search, rescue, and patrol missions. At Seafarers Worldwide, we use a number of Rescue Craft, real launching arrangements, and extensive on-water practical training to ensure our graduates not only meet the requirements, but also gain valuable experience that may save lives.

In this USCG approved course you will:
• Take charge of Fast Rescue Boats during and after launch, and upon recovery
• Participate in all aspects of rescue and care of casualties from the water
• Operate FRB engines
• Learn FRB capsize; causes, prevention and righting
• Learn FRB craft; equipment and operation
• Learn FRB maintenance, operations, and casualties
This course satisfies Section A-VI/2 paragraphs 5-8 and table A-VI/2 of the STCW Code as defined by Title 46 Code of Federal Regulation (46 CFR, part 10) and is approved by the United States Coast Guard, recognized by Transport Canada, and other international maritime regulatory authorities.

To comply with COVID-19 safety protocols this 2-day course is being offered in two formats, participants have the option of attending in person in the classroom or due to COVID-19 this course is also offered in a telepresence format. Any applicant who has successfully completed the Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher course will satisfy the competency requirements of Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW 2010, as amended, for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC), for those seafarers not having evidence of 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years provided that the applicant has previously been issued a Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats endorsement), and will satisfy the professional examination and practical demonstrated requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsements for Lifeboatman and PSC.
The objective of this course is to renew the certification for student in the areas relevant to Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats, and, in doing so, satisfy company, national and international regulations and assessment guidelines as stated in Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping as amended section A-VI/2. This syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Code Section A-VI/2 Mandatory minimum requirements for the issue of certificates of proficiency in survival craft, rescue boats, and fast rescue boats and Table A-VI/2-1 Specification of the minimum standard of competence in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher is a 2-day USCG & STCW approved course that provides students a refresher in taking charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch. Students also demonstrate the ability to operate a survival craft engine, manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship and use locating devices including communication and signaling apparatuses
