PSCRB stands for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat. At this training, you will learned about Safety Guide Lines, Ship Emergencies, Abandoning the Ship, Personal Lifesaving Appliances, Rescue Operation, Life Boats, Life Boat Launching Devices / Appliances, Life Rafts, Location Aids, Signals and Signs in an Emergency.
This STCW course has been developed for seafarers who are responsible for the survival crafts and rescue boats during an emergency situation.
By following this training participants should be able to be in charge of the survival craft or rescue boat during and after launching. Besides this the delegates will learn how to deal with the crew members and the rescue boat and provide first aid after abandoning the ship.
SCOPE
This training is intended for seafarers who are required to take charge of a survival craft or a rescue boat in emergency situations during and after launch, in accordance with:
SOLAS Chapter III (as amended) Regulation VI/2 of the Annex to the STCW Convention and Section A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code
AIMS
This course aims to provide the training for candidates to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situations, in accordance with the STCW Code. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in survival crafts and rescue boats, other than fast rescue boats, a delegate will be competent to handle and take charge on such boats during or after launch.

With two waterfront gravity davits in the Puget Sound and others constructed around the country at partner schools, there is no substitute for the experience gained in this training.

Any applicant who has successfully completed the Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher course will satisfy the competency requirements of Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW 2010, as amended, for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC), for those seafarers not having evidence of 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years provided that the applicant has previously been issued a Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats endorsement), and will satisfy the professional examination and practical demonstrated requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsements for Lifeboatman and PSC.
The objective of this course is to renew the certification for student in the areas relevant to Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats, and, in doing so, satisfy company, national and international regulations and assessment guidelines as stated in Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping as amended section A-VI/2. This syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Code Section A-VI/2 Mandatory minimum requirements for the issue of certificates of proficiency in survival craft, rescue boats, and fast rescue boats and Table A-VI/2-1 Specification of the minimum standard of competence in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher is a 2-day USCG & STCW approved course that provides students a refresher in taking charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch. Due to Covid-19 and the Delta Variant the first two days of this course are offered on-line in a telepresence format. Alternatively you can attend the course in the classroom, but you must be vaccinated.
The United States Coast Guard mandates that all Able Seafarers demonstrate competency in Survival Craft operations. This course solves the problem for mariners working on vessels without open or motorized lifeboats. This is an excellent course for mariners on Oceans or Inland waters who serve aboard the Washington State ferries, fishing vessels, tug boats or any vessel carrying alternative Survival Craft such as a life raft.
This course closely follows the Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 0414 which provides guidance for qualification towards or re-validation of STCW endorsements for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Lifeboats and Fast Rescue Boats (PSC-Limited).
In this course you will:
Command the launching of a rescue boat
Command the recovery and proper securing of a survival craft
Acting as a member of the launch crew, prepares and launches a rescue boat.
Act as coxswain and operates the rescue boat during launch
Act as a member of the rescue boat crew and carry out all commands during launch.
Act as a member of the recovery crew and recover and stows the rescue boat.
Operate a Rescue Craft engine
