The United States Coast Guard mandates that all Able Seafarers demonstrate competency in Survival Craft operations. This course solves the problem for mariners working on vessels without open or motorized lifeboats. This is an excellent course for mariners on Oceans or Inland waters who serve aboard the Washington State ferries, fishing vessels, tugboats or any vessel carrying alternative Survival Craft such as a life raft.
This course closely follows the Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 0414 which provides guidance for qualification towards or re-validation of STCW endorsements for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Lifeboats and Fast Rescue Boats (PSC-Limited).

In this course you will:
Command the launching of a rescue boat
Command the recovery and proper securing of a survival craft
Acting as a member of the launch crew, prepares and launches a rescue boat.
Act as coxswain and operates the rescue boat during launch
Act as a member of the rescue boat crew and carry out all commands during launch.
Act as a member of the recovery crew and recover and stows the rescue boat.
Operate a Rescue Craft engine
Understand what a on-load and off-load hook is and how to safety use one.
Manage survivors and Survival Craft after abandoning ship
Know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signaling apparatuses and pyrotechnics
Learn how to apply first aid to survivors and the actions to take to preserve lives

This course satisfies Subpart C of Title 11, 46 CFR for any endorsement of Able Seafarer restricted to vessels without lifeboats.

This course is held over a ten-day period. The class starts each day at 0800 and finishes at 1700. Each lesson is instructor lead. There is a complete lesson review at the conclusion of each lesson including a progress test. We do not advance to the next lesson until all students successfully pass each lesson test. This is very helpful for students to build confidence in the subject matter and prepare themselves for the final exam on the last day of class.

to launching your maritime career. In this course,
you will learn how to safely and effectively
participate as part of the deck department of a
vessel. This means being aware of their obligations
under Coast Guard regulations concerning safety
and protection of the marine environment, and being
able to take the practical measures necessary to
meet those obligations.
Whether you need the standard Lifeboat
certification, a PSC refresher course, or Proficiency

With your AB and PSC or PSC Limited certificates
from Seafarers Worldwide, along with the requisite
sea time, you will be able to apply for the following
United States Coast Guard endorsements without
any further testing:
• AB Unlimited requires 1080 days experience on
ocean waters and can serve as AB on any vessel.
• AB Limited requires 540 days experience on
vessels greater than 100 GRT operating on ocean
waters and can serve as any AB on vessels of less
than 1600 tons and constitute 50% of the AB on
vessels greater than 1600 tons.
• AB Special requires 360 days experience and can
serve as AB on any vessel less than 500 tons and
constitute 50% of the AB on vessels greater than

• AB OSV requires 180 days experience and can
serve as AB on any oil industry vessels less than

The program will utilize a state of the art Telepresence, three camera system, and conferencing platform that will allow for as much interaction as if you were actually in classroom. The system is quite flexible and allows for participation through any modern computing device with a camera (webcam), and microphone.

Upgrade to 200 Ton Master Near Coastal

Upon successful completion of this upgrade class the mariner will have the knowledge of navigation, seamanship, and federal regulations necessary to accept the responsibility for the safety of vessels less than 200 GRT on near coastal routes, including its cargo and passengers; be aware of the obligations under federal regulations concerning safety and protection of the marine environment; and be able to take the practical measures necessary to meet those obligations.
