OUPV or 100 Ton Master Chart Navigation Training

Our U.S. Coast Guard Approved Captain’s course meets the written examination requirement for the following licenses:

Master or Mate Near Coastal not more than 100 tons

Master or Mate Inland not more than 100 tons

Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels up to 100 tons

Work at your own pace to complete this course. You have 12 weeks to complete the online portion of this course. Upon completion, you will take your proctored USCG Approved final exams. Upon successful completion of the final exams, you will receive a course Certificate of Training that is valid for 1 year to be submitted to the USCG.

Rules of the Road

International and Inland Deck General

Code of Federal Regulations Navigation General including Aids to Navigation

Chart Plotting Navigation

ABLE Seaman Course

USCG Approved Able Seaman Course Complete with Online Testing

Course Duration: 5 Days (40 Hours)

This is the first ever, mixed Telepresence course for Able Seaman anywhere in the United States that includes testing either in our classroom or at home.
This Course will be simultaneously delivered to students in classroom, as well as broadcast live via the net. Students online will have the same level of interaction with Instructors & fellow students whether in class, or online.
The program will utilize a state-of-the-art Telepresence, three camera system, and conferencing platform that will allow for as much interaction as if you were actually in classroom. In addition to the in-house instructor, you will also have a dedicated online instructor to facilitate communications with the podium instructor, answer questions, and field requests. Its like having two instructors at one time.
The system is quite flexible and allows for participation through any modern computing device with a camera (webcam), and microphone.
All course presentation times are PST (Pacific Daylight Time) UTC/GMT -8 hours Pacific Time.
Benefits of this AB Course
After the instructor delivers the lesson plan in a live stream format, Seafarers Worldwide will make the video accessible to the students on demand. Students can review parts of the lesson which they found more difficult than the rest.
An online discussion board will give students the chance to ask questions and share ideas.
The instructor is available during the class to answer questions at any time
At the conclusion of the course students take the final exam online, administered by SFWW
Details: This is a five-day 40 hour course that begins on Monday morning at 0800. Students taking the class in person will arrive at our training facility. Students taking the course online will log on to the course as instructed at the time of registration.
When you register for this course you may choose to simply attend the course in person, or you can take advantage of the Telepresence option.
The final exam and knot practical will be given on Friday. For Telepresence students the exam will also be given on Friday via our secure online platform.
This course satisfies the training requirements of STCW Code Section A-II/5, Table A-II/5, and the competency requirements of 46 CFR 12.603(a)(4); AND the written examination requirement of 46 CFR 12.405(a) for the “Deck General and Navigational General,” “Deck Safety and Rules of the Road;” AND the “Practical Marlinspike Seamanship Demonstration” requirement of 46 CFR 12.405(c). This certification is recognized by the United States Coast Guard, Transport Canada, and other international maritime regulatory authorities.
