STCW mandates that all Able Seafarers demonstrate competency in Survival Craft operations. This course solves the problem for mariners working on vessels without motor enclosed fiberglass lifeboats. This is an excellent course for inland workers, ferry workers, fishing vessels, or any vessel carrying alternative Survival Craft such as rubber life rafts.
This course satisfies the lifeboatman certification for any rating of AB: Special, Limited or Unlimited. This course is also STCW compliant and and meets the licensing requirement on any waters: Inland, Coastal or International. This Course also satisfies the Lifeboatman requirement for any size of ship: a tug boat, Ferry or deep sea ship that carry life rafts as their survival craft.
In this course you will:
Operate Life-Saving Appliances and take charge of a Survival Craft or Rescue Boat during or after launch
Operate a Rescue Craft engine
Manage survivors and Survival Craft after abandoning ship
Know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signaling apparatuses and pyrotechnics
Learn how to apply first aid to survivors and the actions to take to preserve lives
This course satisfies Subpart C of Title 11, 46 CFR for any endorsement of Able Seafarer restricted to vessels without lifeboats.Find out more »
To comply with COVID-19 safety protocols the first day of this course is held on-line in a telepresence format. The second day is conducted at our training site in Anacortes WA.

Any applicant who has successfully completed the Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher course will satisfy the competency requirements of Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW 2010, as amended, for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC), for those seafarers not having evidence of 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years provided that the applicant has previously been issued a Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats endorsement), and will satisfy the professional examination and practical demonstrated requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsements for Lifeboatman and PSC.
The objective of this course is to renew the certification for student in the areas relevant to Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats, and, in doing so, satisfy company, national and international regulations and assessment guidelines as stated in Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping as amended section A-VI/2. This syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Code Section A-VI/2 Mandatory minimum requirements for the issue of certificates of proficiency in survival craft, rescue boats, and fast rescue boats and Table A-VI/2-1 Specification of the minimum standard of competence in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher is a 2-day USCG & STCW approved course that provides students a refresher in taking charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch.
