Come on down to beautiful Gig Harbor and get trained in American Heart Association’s Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED with Captain Ben!

The Northwest Maritime Academy is holding the American Heart Association Heartsaver Class. the class takes about 4-5 hours and the certificate is Good for 2 years.

The NWMA Difference:

Here at the Northwest Maritime Academy we believe that to core of good, effective training is using the actual equipment you will see in the field and having as much hands on training as possible. What this means for the AHA Heartsaver class is that we use the best Force feedback CPR Manikin’s on the market that measure chest compression depth, compression timing and have chest rise for breaths, the 3 most important elements for effective CPR. We also have top of the line equipment for all the other elements of the class.

  • For the first aid portion of the class we get messy, applying a bandage to a clean pristine arm will not happen in the field so it will not happen in my class. There will be red stuff and panicked moaning students so that when you are dealing with the real thing you will be ready. And it makes the class fun, students having fun always learn more better.
  • At NWMA you are a Real person with a Name! in each class we all get a name tag and use it. Calling people by their name is polite and in a real world situation it will make everything go much more efficiently and in the class we are going to be getting to be fast friends and for that “hey you” is not going to cut it.
  • Top 3 Response list! Whether it is at one of the NWMAs classrooms or if we come to your worksite for on-site training we ask every student what the top 3 most likely Emergency situations they might come upon during their day and teach to that. Example: Babysitter: infant choking simulation, child head wound simulation, child burn simulation. Factory worker: chemical burn simulation (skin or in eye), fingers cut off with band saw simulation (blood loss, amputation, first aid), heart attack in the lunch room. Sailor: concussion from crane lift accident, rope burn across hands, acid wash down spill (Acid in Eye or on Skin)

Who should take the Course?

Every person on earth! Often it is required by your employer to take the class but it is good for all kind of heroic men women Teens and even kids. We also satisfy the United States Coast Guard requirements for Elementary lifesaving with this class so if you need that you have come to the right place.
